Pomona released

Four Winds Brewing Co of Delta, British Columbia, has announced that Pomona 2019 has been released. At 5.5% – 8 IBU, it is a bright and bold sour wheat ale aged on nectarines and apricots in French oak foeders with Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces.

“Have you ever had a nectarine or apricot that was so good it almost didn’t make sense? That sensation is the inspiration for Pomona! We designed this recipe to let the fleshy tart stone-fruits be the dominant flavour,” says Four Winds.

“Before we add the fruit, the beer already tastes like an apricot beer due to the combination of hops yeast and bacteria. We then age this beer in two 4000 L French oak foeders with 4000 lbs of squished nectarines and whole apricots. The pit of the apricot gives the beer a subtle, bitter almond flavour that plays nicely alongside the sharp acidity and bright fruit.

“We are proud to have always sourced the fruit for this beer through the amazing Parsons fruit stand on Highway 3 in Keremeos. Every year the final product very much depends on the fruit from the previous season and is usually ready when apricots and nectarines are ripe. This is the 3rd vintage of Pomona and it’s a great vintage!”

Pomona is available in 750 mL bottles to-go, in Four Winds tap room and is being shipped throughout the Province.
