If any extra-terrestrial aliens escape from Area 51 today, they are entitled to have a free beer, thanks to Bud Light.
Some months ago when a few people on the Net – in jest – decided to storm top secret Area 51 in the US Nevada desert to find proof of alien visitors, Bud jumped on the bandwagon and said they’d produce a special limited-edition alien-themed Bud Light can if 51.000 people tweeted them.
Although Bud didn’t get the tweets, they decided to come out with the beer can anyway, which was to be distributed at Alienstock between 20-22 September at Area 51.
Now, even though Alienstock has been cancelled due to safety concerns – the US government said they will come down hard on anyone trying to get into Area 51 – Bud is still coming out with the can.
Baring a third strike, this should be available at Area 51 Celebration, being held now in nearby Las Vegas.
According to a press release, Bud Light is bringing an “alien-friendly fridge,” which will be staged at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, and “reserved exclusively for aliens.” What’s more, Bud Light says the fridge can only be opened by an “alien finger scan”.
The company also confirmed it will still release the special cans in select states.
“The way we see it, we’d much rather people crack open a crisp Bud Light with alien visitors rather than storm Area 51,” said Bud. “Nothing says we come in peace like sharing a beer with friends from another place or another galaxy. We promised to have beer waiting for any alien that wants it and we plan to deliver on that promise. Our hope is that humans stock up too because you never know when you might need some Bud Lights to welcome intergalactic neighbours.’”
Bud Light fans with no intention to travel to Las Vegas can still find the special-edition cans in Nevada, Arizona and California. For everyone else, they will just have to get themselves abducted by party-animal space aliens if they hope to enjoy some intergalactic drinks.
