It beggars belief – Octoberfest runs dry

If you’re going to throw a local Octoberfest celebration, it can be forgivable to run out of pretzels, mustard, and oompah music. But, there is one thing you better have plenty on-hand, otherwise, what’s the point of the celebration?

But instead, organizers of England’s Weymouth’s Octoberfest were left red-faced with embarrassment after they ran out of beer, forcing beer lovers to drink cider instead.

With three and half hours to go on Saturday – the last day of the two-day festival – the beer-well ran dry and punters were offered either refunds or tokens for cider.

However, according to the Dorset Echo, the people behind the beer-short Octoberfest said it wasn’t their fault but, instead, blame lies on the group Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which didn’t provide enough barrels, supplying 10 fewer barrels than last year.

However, West Dorset CAMRA said that they weren’t to blame, but, instead, the governs of CAMRA’s national budgeting policy for ordering quantities of beer and cider for CAMRA festivals.
