Cyber-attack hits Waterloo Brewing

Ontario’s largest Canadian brewery was stuck by a cyber-attack last week which could cost the company over $2million in loses, according to The Cord.

Staff writer Hayley McGoldrick said Waterloo Brewing was the victim of a “sophisticated” cyber-attack where the thief impersonated a creditor employee and requested fraudulent wire transfers.

Outside of a brief press release, Waterloo is not offering further information due to an active investigation.

“When we have something material to share we will do so. Thanks for your interest and understanding on this matter.”

The brewery has explained that though there was a breach in their finances, personal customer information was not leaked and that clients are not at risk.
