World’s Strongest Beer Holds the Record with a 57.8% ABV

UK based brewery, BrewDog, has beat out its long time Bavarian rival, Schorschbräu, for the title of the world’s strongest beer.

BrewDog has launched Strength in Numbers strong beers which are made with Tactical Nuclear Penguin (32%), Sink the Bismarck (41%) and The End of History (55%) which makes its ABV a whopping 57.8% alcohol by volume. The beer is packaged in a 40-milliliter bottle which equals approx. 32.7 units of alcohol in one pint. Strength in Numbers being a 57.8% beer reaches this colossal ABV through the traditional eisbock method – freezing the beer and removing chunks of ice (water) so that you’re left with the concentrated high ABV liquid. The beer also features a blend of BrewDog’s own Death or Glory, an ice distilled Belgian golden ale that has been sitting in whisky casks for 10 years.
