Alberta has been coming up in the rankings with the numerous openings of craft breweries over the last couple of years. Now, they can add the title of having some of the best brews across the globe to that list. At the recent 2020 World Beer Awards, Turner Valley-based brewery, Baruerei Fahr, was crowned with the title of World’s Best Bavarian Style Hefeweiss with their brew, Hefe Beer. Owner Jochen Fahr prides his brand as crafting Alberta’s finest traditional German beer and describes his Hefe beer as hazy and refreshing.

“I’m just awestruck,” said Fahr. Hefe wasn’t their only winner that evening. Other award-winning beers taking home Canadian titles included their Pils and Copper.
