Molson Coors Enforces Lockout at Toronto Brewery

Molson Coors locked out employees at its Toronto brewery this past week, after the union rejected the company’s latest offer which has been in negotiations for the last 17 weeks.

“We are disappointed that we have not been able to reach an agreement,” company spokesperson Frédéric Bourgeois-LeBlanc stated. “We have implemented a contingency plan to ensure the Toronto brewery will remain open and we will continue to brew, package and ship beer to meet consumer demand.”

The lockout comes on the heels of the one-year mark of Canada being hit with the coronavirus pandemic – affecting every industry – including the brewery industry –  and stated as the single largest annual job decline on record for the province of Ontario.
