Cheers to Canadian Beer Day

The third annual Canadian Beer Day is back this fall. Celebrations take place on October 6 and will include raising a glass to all who work in the brewing industry; a day to celebrate Canadian beer and the people who brew it, sell it, deliver it, serve it and drink it.

Over 85 percent of the beer purchased in Canada is made locally and Canadian brewers directly employ 19,000 Canadians and the sale of beer supports 149,000 jobs across its added-value-chain including the farmer that grows our barley, the trucker that brings beer to market, the graphic designer creating labels and packaging, the local beer retail expert, and the bar and restaurant bartender and server pouring your favourite pint.

“Beer brings Canadians together and it’s been a part of our country’s culture and communities for generations,” said Dana Miller, communications director for Beer Canada in a release. ”The last 16 months have been a challenging time for Canadians and businesses, specifically those in hospitality, making beer’s role in bringing friends and family together more important than ever.”

Beer Canada has been in operation since 1943 and comprises 90 percent of Canadian beer producers among its membership.
