The founders of West Toronto’s Junction Craft Brewery Tom Paterson and Doug Pengelly, began the brewery’s journey back in 2011 with a mission to create the highest-quality, hand-crafted beers. Since that time the brewery has grown and expanded its product offering adding great new styles and brands available across the province.
In 2018 the business moved to its current home located in a former City of Toronto 1930’s art-deco incinerator, affectionately known as ‘The Destructor”. Decommissioned in the 80’s, used for raves in the 90’s and beautifully restored in 2018, the award-winning heritage building is the perfect spot to enjoy a part of Toronto’s past, hangout in our intimate yet spacious taproom, grab a brewery tour and of course sample great, fresh beer.
In 2019 JCB continued its expansion adding St. Mary Axe and socially responsible beer brand Caribru to its family of products.
As of last week, the Richter Advisory Group announced that it will be the trustee for the brewery which entered into a bankruptcy protection period while it is looking for buyers to take over the business.
According to Canadian Beer News, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) issued an order on November 8th, which, among other things, (i) authorized Richter Advisory Group Inc., in its capacity as trustee (the “Trustee”) in the Notice of Intention to Make a Proposal proceedings (the “NOI Proceedings”) of Junction Craft Brewing Inc. (”Junction”), to undertake, on behalf of Junction, a sale solicitation process (the “Sale Process”) for the sale of Junction’s business and/or assets and (ii) approved a stalking horse agreement for the acquisition of Junction’s business by a stalking horse bidder.
Junction operates primarily as a brewer and seller of hand-crafted beers and other beverage products from an approximately 16,513 square foot leased premises located at 150 Symes Road, Toronto, Ontario (the “Premises”). Junction also earns rental and other income from hosting weddings, fundraisers and corporate functions at the Premises.
