Ontario Craft Brewer Hopes to Hold Title at World Beer Awards

Cameron’s Brewing is based in Oakville, Ontario, currently holds the title of World’s Best IPA at the 2021 World Beer Awards with their Cruising Through the Galaxy Hazy IPA. Launching in 1997, the brewery continues to develop new styles to perfect their classic ales and lagers using the world’s finest all-natural ingredients. As a brewery, they are both environmentally and socially conscious in day-to-day practices.

Cameron’s award-winning beers have been recognized over 250 times at local, national and worldwide brewing awards. In addition to being named the World’s Best IPW, additional awards received in 2021 include BESTE BOCK Gold Medal – Amber Malty European Lager (Ontario Brewing Awards) and AMBEAR RED ALE Silver Medal – Amber and Brown American Beer (Ontario Brewing Awards).

Their products are currently available at The LCBO, Beer Store, Loblaws, Sobeys, and other select retailers across Ontario. You can also find their products on tap at many bars and restaurants across the province.

The World Beer Awards took place in the United Kingdom where beers from around the world are judged. Cameron’s IPA recipe was produced in 2020 led by brewmaster and vice-president Jason Britton and head brewer Kyran Maine. As for the name, Cruising Through the Galaxy, came from the variety of flavours found in the brew.

“Wheat and oats are the opaque fluffy body contributors, with appropriate water contributions,” said president Clint Israel. “Mosaic and Topaz (hops) are the stars when it comes to the aroma.”

Other Canadian winners included: Begbie Cream Ale from Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. in Revelstoke, B.C., Unibroue Raftman from Chambly, Que., in best flavoured smoke, Moscow Mule from Bad Tattoo of Penticton, B.C., in the flavoured herb and spice category, and best low- or no-alcohol for Aurora by Microbrasserie Le Bockale of Drummondville, Que.
