Rachel McDermott used to have a lucrative career on Wall Street. Being unfulfilled, she decided to quit and do what she really loved…open a brewery.
“I’m always looking at things. How can you take what you do and make more money from it?” McDermott said. “It became clear to me, there was a future in craft beer. I really wanted to open a brewery and I wanted to do it on the foundation my family had built their farm on, which is growing crops, growing grain. I said, ‘We have tractors, planters and harvesters, all the stuff you’ve invested in over the years. Let’s make it work for you.’”
“I want to grow really good crops. I want to share that story with people who come here to enjoy good beer,” she said. “This is the first brewery I know of where a grain farm is taking on this production aspect of beer.”
