Left Field Brewery in Toronto, ON, has announced that they will be expanding to a second location in Liberty Village later this year.
The space at 40 Hanna Ave is a century-old former billiard table factory that was more recently a fully functioning brewpub which closed in 2019. Like their current Leslieville location, it’s a beautiful, natural-light filled brick and beam space with amazing historic charm.
Left Field plans to spend the next months transforming the 11,000 square foot, two storey space into a community-focused, 300 seat Tap Room, Kitchen and Retail store. The Tap Room will be a casual, communal and inclusive space to connect over a beer and a place where groups of all sizes can gather for the game and to cheer on the home team.
The Kitchen will offer brunch, lunch and dinner, with ballpark-inspired dishes, designed to pair perfectly with their beers. The beer lineup will be complemented with locally sourced wine, cider and spirits. Left Field’s brew team is eager to start brewing on the new 8 hectolitre (hL) brewhouse and filling the five 8hL fermentors and eleven 8hL conditioning and serving tanks. Smaller in scale compared to their current 23hL brewhouse and 46hL fermentors, this expansion will provide the brewery more opportunity to brew one-offs and collabs, and to experiment with new styles, ingredients, processes and recipes.
The Retail Store will offer Left Field’s full range of core, seasonal and one-off canned beers along with merchandise like apparel, glassware and fan gear. The brewery team is thankful for the support and enthusiasm that they have received from fans since opening their doors on Wagstaff Drive in Leslieville back in 2015. They are looking forward to having increased hospitality capabilities to serve their beer directly to fans and supporters.
Left Field invites feedback and questions about the new location from fans and supporters in a fan survey. The brewery is hiring a General Manager who will work closely with owners Mark and Mandie Murphy on the opening of this new location.
