On July 24, the Honourable Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, announced a repayable FedNor contribution of $534,422 to support the expansion and modernization of Gateway City Brewery. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
These strategic investments will allow Gateway City Brewery to expand its product line and increase its revenue stream, while achieving production and distribution efficiencies. The move to a larger space will also help the company purchase new equipment that will increase production capacity, positioning them to expand their distribution to stores within the North and across Ontario. The modern space will allow the brewery to enhance customer experiences and host events that appeal to both the local and tourism markets. The investment is expected to create at least nine jobs in the first three years of the expansion.
Strong local economies rely on local businesses. That is why the Government of Canada is proud to be investing in projects like these, which support innovation and technology adoption while helping businesses to start up, scale up, and create local jobs in Northern Ontario.
“This is good news for Gateway City Brewery and the people of North Bay. Small and medium businesses rooted in their communities are the backbone of our economy, especially here in Northern Ontario. That is why we’re committed to investing locally, supporting our communities, and growing an economy that works for everyone.“
The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor
“Communities in Nipissing-Timiskaming know the importance of supporting local businesses. North Bay has done that with Gateway City Brewery. With this FedNor investment, I look forward to seeing the business grow, expand and contribute to the economic success of North Bay for years to come. ”
The Honourable Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming
“We are excited to be receiving support from FedNor as we look to grow and expand our business. We are proud of our community and are thrilled that this investment will take us to the next level and allow us to continue to contribute to a strong, local economy here in North Bay.”
