To provide same-day delivery of goods from the LCBO on the DoorDash app in Ontario, DoorDash Canada has announced a new relationship with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
The meal-delivery app is following in the footsteps of SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats, both of which currently provide LCBO deliveries.
By the end of 2023, DoorDash intends to increase its service to roughly 70% of the Ontario population and stock it with items from more than 300 LCBO locations, according to a press release. Shilpa Arora, general manager of DoorDash Canada, declared that people of Ontario may now get their preferred local or foreign beer, wine, and spirits from the LCBO delivered right to their home.
Customers may anticipate that product prices will be same to those found in stores, and they will occasionally be given the choice of taking advantage of free delivery. On the initial LCBO order of $40 or more at participating locations, DoorDash is furthermore providing $0 delivery costs and service fees.
DoorDash has put in place strong, industry-leading safety safeguards as part of its serious commitment to providing alcohol responsibly. Deliveries will be made by Dashers who have received Smart Serve certification and will employ DoorDash’s cutting-edge two-step ID verification method, which improves how IDs are verified before alcohol is delivered. Here is how it works:
- Before completing their first purchase, Customers must upload their ID which is subject to a validation process to check the validity of the ID and that the Customer is of legal drinking age.
- Before completing each delivery, Dashers are prompted to physically check a customer’s ID and also scan the ID with the DoorDash app to help verify they are of legal drinking age.
- The Dasher is also prompted to check for any signs of intoxication.
- The delivery may only be completed after each of the above steps is successfully completed.
