The 2023 B.C. Beer Awards Results Have Been Revealed

The top beers in the province were chosen after judges tasted 925 samples in 29 different style categories.

At the conclusion of a tasting event featuring brews from all throughout the province past Saturday night, the winners of the B.C. Beer Awards 2023 were revealed.

For 29 distinct beer varieties, ranging from straightforward lagers to intensely hopped IPAs and thick barrel-aged imperial stouts, judges had to taste 925 samples in September.

More than a quarter of the breweries listed on the B.C. Ale Trail website are represented on the awards list, which includes almost 60 breweries overall and highlights the broad strength of the B.C. brewing industry.

This year’s awards highlights include:

Rookie of the Year 

      • Swift Brewing (presented by Hops Connect Canada)

Innovator of the Year

      • Small Gods Brewing (presented by Keg Share)

Brewery of the Year

      • Twin City Brewing (presented by Tap & Barrel Group)

Best in Show

      •  Dark Matter – Hoyne Brewing (presented by Country Malt Group)

Legend Award

      • Don Gordon, Ken Beattie (presented by B.C. Beer Awards)

Judge’s Choice

      • Oktoberfest – Moody Ales & Co (presented by Great Little Box, Ideon Packaging)
