The Visionary Indigenous Business (VIBE) Awards, which honour the accomplishments of Indigenous companies, business leaders, and entrepreneurs in Manitoba, have been presented by Indigenous Business Education Partners (IBEP) at the Asper School of Business for the past 17 years.
One of the 2023 VIBE Award recipients is La Brasserie Nonsuch Brewing Co.
Matthew Sabourin is the president of La Brasserie Nonsuch, a business that is mostly owned by Métis and Francophones. Since 2017, Sabourin has been working with the Nonsuch team to create experiences that everyone will love, remember, and treasure, as well as to contribute to Manitoba’s Métis-Francophone culture and imagine a more varied, egalitarian, and inclusive province.
In addition to ranking #2 on the Globe and Mail’s 2019 list of the greatest new eateries on the prairies, the craft brewery has received more national beer and brewery honours than any other Manitoban brewery. Beyond its acclaimed cuisine and drinks, Nonsuch also strives to give back to the community via partnerships with Métis Employment and Training (MET), Circles for Reconciliation, Exchange District Biz, and fundraising for Main Street Project.
Not only is VIBE exclusive to Manitoba, but it’s also one of the oldest prizes in Canada. The esteemed yearly occasion blends festivity, connections, and altruism, uniting Asper alums, scholars, instructors, and personnel with Manitoba’s business sector to draw inspiration from the best of Indigenous business and entrepreneurship.
This event took place at the RBC Convention Centre on November 16th, thanks to the VIBE Awards.
The 2023 awardees actively support Manitoba’s economy while exhibiting imagination, aspiration, flexibility, and a love of community.
