Guelph’s local breweries are teaming up to work with Link Up and the Guelph Black Heritage Society to run a special brewery bus tour on Sunday, Sept. 22. The experience will be focused on inviting and welcoming the BIPOC community to each brewery space with special activations to create a fun and engaging experience.
Culture Quest is more than just a brewery tour. It’s an afternoon of discovery, designed to introduce the BIPOC community to Guelph’s rich and diverse craft beer scene, and craft beer in general. With fresh beer at every stop, local food from BIPOC chefs, an engaging brewery tour, and live music from some of Guelph’s finest musicians, it’s an afternoon of culture, craft, and community. Everybody is welcome.
The initiative will be organized by the following groups:
Link Up is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to connect and uplift talented and passionate individuals from BIPOC communities within the craft beer industry to diversify it and make it more welcoming to consumers from any culture.
Guelph Black Heritage Society raises awareness in Guelph of both local (Guelph and Wellington County) and national Black heritage as well as addressing social issues of importance to Black Canadian communities.
Guelph.Beer is a partnership focused on nurturing and growing Guelph’s exceptional beer culture by furthering beer education, promoting collaboration, and building Guelph’s reputation as a world-class brewing centre and beer destination. The organization includes all of Guelph’s local breweries: Wellington, Royal City, Sleeman, Wrinkly Bear, Brothers, and Fixed Gear.
Here’s how the event will work:
- Each bus tour will start and end at Heritage Hall/Guelph Black Heritage Society.
- There will be 6 breweries which will be split into two separate tour routes/groups with three stops each.
- Tickets will be $35 + tax which will include bus charter to each location, 12oz of beer at each stop (three), fun activities at each location (including live music, brewery tours and pop-up chefs), custom glass, tote bag, and a can of a collaboration beer created together by Guelph.Beer breweries.
Tickets and details about the event can be found online.
