Dominion City Brewing in Ottawa has launched a trans-Canada brewery initiative to brew a new beer called “Glorious and Free” made from 100% Canadian ingredients. The collaboration between breweries across Canada is aimed at supporting local communities and strengthening Canada during a crucial moment in its history.
Co-founder Josh McJannett said the beer is brewed with pilsner malt from Mississippi Mills, Ontario, Canadian flaked oats, and hops from Houblonnière Lupuline Hop Yard in Chapeau, Quebec. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Writers’ Trust of Canada.
Participating breweries include:
- Port Rexton Brewing (Newfoundland & Labrador)
- North Brewing (Nova Scotia)
- Lone Oak Brewing (Prince Edward Island)
- Trailway Brewing (New Brunswick)
- 4 Origines (Quebec)
- Town Brewery (Ontario)
- Kilter Brewing (Manitoba)
- Twin Sails (British Columbia)
Additional details regarding the campaign are available upon request for brewers interested in taking part. The recipe for the “Glorious and Free” is also available to homebrewers who wish to brew their own batch in solidarity.
