Ontario, along with the rest of the world, has suffered through many challenges thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, Ontario craft beer brewers are facing a variety of difficulties that could mean closure for several businesses. Debt, a recent jump in taxes, increased costs on cans and yeast, and continuing to be challenged against a Beer Store monopoly are just some of the challenges these brewers are facing.
Not everyone has faced these challenges the same way. Some owners have thrived while others have been forced to sell, merge, or accept foreign takeovers in what some have described as an overcrowded beer market.
