Your coffee stout is popular, drinkers like the coffee flavour – like Starbucks but with a kick. What if you left out the ‘stout’ then and just went with the coffee?
In a manner of speaking, this is what Pabst Blue Ribbon did back in July and MillerCoors has just done with its La Colombe Hard Cold Brew Coffee, according to a recent article in Food & Wine.
If you want to dip your toe into the hard seltzer market, doing something with coffee would be an excellent start. Considering the number of Starbucks and other coffee chains there are, your market is well established.
MillerCoors 4.2% ABV (Pabst is 5%) will be released in five US markets. Made from La Colombe’s medium-roasted Columbian and Brazilian cold brew coffee, there are two flavours, Black and Vanilla. Both are made with cane sugar, natural flavours and added alcohol, with the main difference being the addition of vanilla flavouring in the one.
