If you’re feeling especially rich these days and you’re planning a trip to the States – as in now – does Samuel Adams have a beer for you.
It’s staggering high-price Utopias have returned, which will set you back a mere $210 (CA$277) for one 25.4-ounce custom bottle. Although it only comes in a bottle, if you could convince them to put it in a keg for you, that would be around $33,000.
Why is it so expensive? To start with, It is barrel-aged and hand-bottled from a batch of just 77 casks containing a blend of Utopias, some of which have been aged as much as 24 years.
Sam Adams says it has “a deep, rich, malty smoothness reminiscent of a vintage Port, Cognac, or fine Sherry.” Created from a blend of batches, this year’s release includes Utopias aged in Scandinavian Aquavit barrels and, for the first time, Moscat barrels. It also contains a bit of Vermont maple syrup.
If you have a hankering for a bottle, time now to check your airline ticket. Due to its 28% ABV, it’s illegal in 15 states. To help you find a bottle to call your own, Sam Adams has a beer finder which will aid you in your quest. Utopias go on sell TODAY!
