An Opportunity for Canadian Farms to Brew Their Own Beer

Canadian farmers from BC to Ontario are being given the chance to brew their own beer through a contest partnering with Bayer and Origin Brewing & Malting Co.

The contest is open to farmers aged 19 and above. To enter, farmers can use FieldView, a tool that allows them to draw a region and view elements like seed product, soil type, elevation, and population. Alternatively, purchasing a premium service gives farmers three entries into the contest.

Bayer CropScience’s digital account and campaign lead, Jamie Mills, said that the premium service provides additional support by installing hardware into equipment and offering data cleanup packages.

Farmers can also share the contest on social media using the hashtag #FieldBrewContest. The contest was created after research revealed the importance of community among farmers.

The winner will travel to Origin’s brewery in Alberta to create the FieldBrew beer alongside Origin Malting & Brewing’s president, Sterling Hilton, and the winning farmer will have his or her farm recognized on the front of FieldBrew cans. The contest ends on November 15.
