Sugar-Free Beer Hits the Japanese Market

Japan’s Prime Brew, Kirin Ichiban, prides themselves on the First Press process, or ichiban shibori method in Japanese, which literally translates into “first press.”

The brand has now come up with zero-sugar beer, The Shibori, a premium beer offering drinkers an alternative option to reduce their intake of sugar. The beer has a 4% ABV and less than 0.5 grams of sugar per 3.4 ounces without using sweeteners or additives. This makes the beer similar to the brand’s regular offering, only without the sugar allowing the brand to market to customers who are looking to lower or eliminate their sugar intake.

The Kirin Ichiban Shibori Zero Sugar is set to launch on October 6 in Japan in both 350ml and 500ml serving sizes.
