Heineken Launches New Stout to Try and Capture the Guinness Market

Dutch brewing mogul, Heineken is looking to catch the Guinness market with their newest launch of a stout. Guinness, based in Ireland, has dominated the market for years with their popular stout and now Heineken is looking to take a chunk out of that demographic.
Spending the last two years developing Island’s Edge (4%abv), Heineken Ireland will now start selling the stout in 300 Dublin pubs during the coming weeks prior to their nationwide launch in September.
“Heineken expects the stout to be a mainstream product which will be backed by a significant marketing investment in the coming months,” said Paula Conlon, the brand’s marketing manager. “Island’s Edge offers a modern take on stout with a refreshing taste and a progressive attitude. The unexpected addition of tea to the stout has resulted in a smoother, creamier, more accessible stout which consumers loved in taste tests.”
